Roach Energy Gives Generous Donation to Non-Profit Organization

Martinsburg, WV (PRWEB) February 24, 2013

Roach Energy recently signed on to Hospice of the Panhandle’s ‘Building the Dream’ campaign, offering a $ 5,000 gift to the agency in the non-profit’s quest to build a 14-bed inpatient unit and to consolidate offices.

The gift follows one made by Rocs employees in 2010, who donated more than $ 3,300 to the campaign as a result of selling the winning Powerball ticket to former Berkeley County Magistrate and Sheriff Randy Smith. When a store sells a winning lottery ticket, it receives a percentage of proceeds from the West Virginia Lottery Commission. In this instance, Roach Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, Steve Roach, gave employees the opportunity to make a gift to the charity of their choice.

“Roach Energy has always been committed to supporting the community,” Roach said. “We have witnessed the hard work that many non-profits perform on a daily basis. Our community would not exist without them. Roach Energy’s desire to give back goes back generations – it’s just something we have always done and will continue to do.”

West Virginia’s top energy supplier, Roach Energy, supports many non-profits in the community in addition to Hospice – the Eastern Panhandle Free Clinic, Shenandoah Area Council of Boy Scouts, Boys and Girls Club and the Rotary Foundation, to name a few. The company recently was the lead sponsor in the noontime Rotary Club’s fundraiser, “Taste of the Panhandle,” which supports several non-profits in the area.

“Roach Energy really sets the standard as a business which has always been willing to give back,” said Hospice Board chair and campaign chair GT Schramm. “We were so pleased with their gift and support. The fact that they immediately thought of giving away the store’s lottery proceeds – and asking employees to choose their favorite charity – just speaks volumes to how they feel about the non-profit community.”

More than 350 individuals and area businesses have made donations to Hospice’s Building the Dream campaign. To date, more than $ 3.5 million has been raised. Construction at the 19-acre site, situated on the Berkeley-Jefferson County border, continues. Roadwork and excavation is completed and building contractors are expected to get on the scene in early February.

Hospice staff expects to occupy the new facilities during the first quarter of 2014.

“We at Hospice applaud that Roach Energy is willing to help so many do so much good,” said CEO Margaret Cogswell.
