Lottery Software is a Game Of Chance

Article by Scott Lamon

The lottery is a favorite pastime for many people and can be a lot of fun to play. It has been around since ancient times and is played all over the world. It is the lure of a simple, small bet that could net you huge winnings that draws people in.

Some people want to try to improve their odds and have turned to lottery software to help. This seems like a reasonable solution. If you read the ads, they always talk about how this lottery software uses a complex formula to predict the winning numbers for a given lottery. They may also mention how this type of prediction was not possible until the advent of modern computers and their ability to do the complex math needed to generate these numbers.

The truth is that lottery software doesn’t work and won’t help in improving your odds at all. The reason for this is that the lottery is a random game, drawn from several random numbers each time it is played. The key term here is “random” and this is why lottery software won’t help you win the lottery. If a situation is truly random, there is no possible way to predict the results. The same number has the exact same chance of coming up every time, or never coming up. This is the nature of random and any lottery software that promises to give you an edge is misleading you.

If you look carefully, some of these systems will generate several numbers and instruct you to play all of them. This is a sneaky way of having you increase your chances of winning by buying more tickets to the game. This is actually legitimate advice and in fact if you do buy more tickets, you have a better chance of winning. Remember that the lottery software had nothing to do with this. It is simply a function of you increasing the chances of your number coming up since you have more of them.

Most lottery software programs seem like they work because we like to look for patterns in totally random events. That’s a human trait and is locked away in our DNA. If we pick a number based on a birthday or anniversary we somehow think this has a better chance of winning. The truth is that every number has the exact same chance of winning as any other. You could have picked 12345 and had as good of a chance at winning as if you stuck to the birthday. Somehow the birthday feels better, but statistically they are the same.

The only way for you to improve your chances mathematically is to increase the number of tickets you have in the various lotteries. Buying them yourself would be expensive in the quantity you would need to improve you chances, so the alternative of a lottery pool is a better idea. Lottery pools allow you to band together with other players and share in any winnings you all might get. This allows all of you to buy a small number of tickets individually that add up to a good chance of winning for the group.

The next time you are looking to improve your odds in the lottery, find a lottery pool and avoid the lottery software. Or, better yet, use an online lottery software program that creates and automates your lottery pool for you.
